Aim of YouthGlide QLD

Aim of YouthGlide QLD

Established in 2018, YouthGlide QLD is specifically designed for young adults between the ages of 14 and 26 years. Providing instruction, coaching and mentoring with sailplanes, YouthGlide courses give an opportunity for juniors to be flying under instruction in a glider, in the hope of them developing their love for aviation and the sport. Furthermore, if the student is confident and deemed competent in their flying, they may be given permission to fly ‘in command’ of the aircraft, or otherwise known as flying solo.

To provide a network opportunity for Queensland Juniors of all levels of flying skills and qualifications.

YouthGlide will promote the concept of holding ‘Mini-Camps’ to provide an opportunity to support existing members and helping them stay actively involved in the sport. Mini-Camps will also offer an opportunity to introduce potential new members to our sport at gliding sites around the state. Mini-Camps will also aim to build positive relationships with host Clubs.

YouthGlide will foster the development of juniors for AEI, Level 1 instructors, and introductory airworthiness skills.

YouthGlide particularly aims to capture the imagination of junior pilots from 14 to 18 who mostly need parental involvement and close support from instructors and clubs.
